The Gospel is not a secret to be hidden By Grace Lim

A gospel is a writing that describes the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus. Who is Jesus? In the Book of John, Jesus uses 7 “I am” terms to describe Himself. Also in the book of Exodus when Moses asked God how he should describe God to the Israelites, God told Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.” (Exodus 3:14)

The 7 “I am” terms used by Jesus in the gospel of John are:
John 6:35 – I am the bread of life
John 8:12 – I am the light of the world
John 10:9 – I am the gate
John 10:11 – I am the good shepherd
John 11:25 – I am the resurrection and the life
John 14:6 – I am the way and the truth and the life
John 15:1- I am the true vine

If we read carefully we will realize that all the “I am” that Jesus claims to be comes with a promise. Read each chapter of the above verses and you will discover how much God through Jesus loves mankind. John 20:31 “these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” Indeed can the gospel remain a secret to be hidden? The treasure of eternal life must be shared to all because that is the reason Jesus Christ came to the world – to restore man’s relationship to God.
